VPN-DSL Services

The Archdiocese of New Orleans began offering VPN-DSL Services to those sites utilizing a 128K line speed or below since May 2003. Since than, we have successfully switched over 20 sites to date.

The sites listed below have successfully switched over their services from the current Frame Relay Network to the VPN-DSL Network, which is still protected by the firewall and site filter.

What benefits do these sites get for switching over their service, you ask? Well, actually if the site was utilizing a 64K line, the speed of the network almost doubled in every instance for the same cost that they were paying for a 64K line. For those that were utilizing a 128K line, they did notice an increase in speed of the network and their monthly costs DECREASED. (Yes you read that right…DECREASED!)

How do you sign up for this new service? Very easily. Simply call Internet Services at 504 596-3064 and give us the name of the site, which telephone or fax number you would like to use for the VPN-DSL service, we than contact BellSouth to be sure that your site qualifies. Once that has been completed, the contracts are drawn up by BellSouth, signed by us and than installations dates are set.

For those sites located in Houma-Thibodaux or Baton Rouge Dioceses, please be sure to contact your local help desk.

Baton Rouge: Joe Ingraham - 225-242-0240

Houma-Thibodaux: Holly Becnel - 985 850-3213 or Cheryl Levron 985 850-3121
