PHILOSOPHY

St. Joan of Arc School is an integral part of the St. Joan of Arc Parish family. The mission of the Catholic school's educators (clergy, administrative staff, faculty, and parents) is that of the apostles in creating a cooperative atmosphere based on the Good News of salvation and the command of Jesus to love and serve one another. The school provides a comprehensive program of education so that each student may develop to his/her fullest potential as an image of God, a member of the student body and as a member of the Body of Christ.

 

MISSION STATEMENT

The St. Joan of Arc community dedicates its efforts and services to the spiritual and educational preparation of our students to proclaim and live the Good News of Jesus Christ.
 
 

GOALS

1.  To provide an environment in which the Good News of Jesus Christ is proclaimed through the values 

      taught and lived in the school.
 

2.   To develop Catholic Christian attitudes in all subject areas.
 

3.  To provide a standard of education in which responsibility, self-discipline, self-improvement, and

     decision-making are modeled and encouraged.
 

4.  To live our faith publicly through prayer and example.
 

5.  To help students witness to each other the presence of God in all aspects of their lives.
 

6.  To foster an understanding that religious education is shared responsibility among the home, church,

     and school.
 

7.  To guide and inspire students to achieve their spiritual and academic potential.
 

8.   To encourage student to cultivate and share their God-given talents.
 

9.   To foster a positive self-image in each person in the school community.
 

10.  To include the Church's social teachings as a substantive content in the religious education

      curriculum.
 

11.  To provide students with technological knowledge and skills conductive to spiritual and academic

       growth.
 

12.  To promote good a Christian attitude, a healthy lifestyle, and good sportsmanship through the

      curriculum and extracurricular activities.

 

BELIEFS

Belief Statements

1.  Students learn to become good Catholic Christians in an environment in which the Good News of Jesus Christ is proclaimed through the values taught and lived in the school.

2.  Students develop to their fullest potential when they are given a comprehensive program of education, which provides opportunities for spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical growth.

3.  All students in our school must have an equal opportunity to learn in a safe and comfortable environment.

4.  St. Joan of Arc’s commitment to continuous improvement is imperative if our students are to become confident, life-long learners.

5.  Teachers, administrators, parents, and the community share the responsibility for helping students learn.

6.  All students can learn in some meaningful way.

7.  Students learn more when they are provided with a wide variety of instructional approaches, and are actively engaged in the learning process.

8.  Motivation to learn is influenced by a student’s emotional state, beliefs, interests, goals, and habits of thinking.

9.  Students learn responsibility, self-discipline, self-improvement, and decision-making skills in an environment where these qualities are modeled and encouraged.

A Saint Joan of Arc graduate is a student who:
