Registration and Tuition Policies for the 2008-2009 School Year:
The policies outlined below have been adopted with the consultation and approval of the Archdiocese of New Orleans Office of Catholic Schools and the St. Joan of Arc School Advisory Board. We feel these policies are necessary for the financial stability of our school, as well as for plans for its continued improvement. In order for us to attract and retain quality and experienced teachers, most of our tuition increase has been dedicated to a much-needed teacher and staff pay raise.
Please read this information carefully as there are extensive changes this year.
1. Registration for returning students begins on Monday, January 28. No one may register for the next year if they have an outstanding tuition balance. This includes any late fees which may have accumulated from tuition not being paid on time. No exceptions. No promises.
Registration packets will be sent home with the students. Remember: no tuition is due in
February, only registration fees. (Only Pre-School tuition is due in February.)
2. All returning students are required to be registered by Tuesday, February 19. There will be a $50 late fee, in addition to the regular registration fees, for each returning student registering on February 20 or later. This is necessary since we must have a clear idea of how many teachers must be hired, and how many books, desks, and other materials must be ordered. These things must be done before the school year ends.
3. Registration for new students begins on Monday, February 25. After this date, registration will be taken on a first-come-first-serve basis. Returning students will have no advantage over new students at that point. After a grade is filled, a waiting list will begin.
4. Registration fees must accompany the registration packet. All applicable records must be present before your registration can be completed. These records are: birth certificate, baptismal certificate, social security card, immunization records, and previous school records.
5. The first tuition payment for the 2008-2009 school year is due on June 1, 2008. There will be 11 months of payment, with no February payment (except for Pre-School). This will allow families to more easily budget for payment of registration fees at this time. Payments for June and July must be made before a child may begin school in August.
6. Fees and tuition rates for 2008 - 2009 are as follows:
Registration Fee - Pre-K-8th...Youngest/Only Child....$165 non-refundable
All additional children - $150 each
Tuition - Kindergarten through 8th Grades

Pre-School - Tuition - Registration Fee ($165 non-refundable)
10 payments due August 1 through May 1 (A $20 late fee is charged for payments received after 10th of month due.)
5 Days per Week - $3,700 per year (10 payments of $370)
3 Days per Week - $2,500 per year (10 payments of $250)
Resource Fee:
Due to the increasing costs of operating a Resource Program we are instituting a fee of $100.00 per course to help defray part of these costs. As with regular tuition this fee will increase slightly each year.
Anyone who falls thirty (30) days behind on tuition payments will be asked to pay immediately or withdraw their children from school.
Eighth grade accounts must be paid in full by May 1. All other accounts for the 2007-2008 school year must be paid in full no later than May 10, or requests will be made that parents pay immediately or withdraw their children from school. These children will not receive any final grades. Eighth graders, kindergartners, and pre-schoolers whose accounts are not paid in full will not be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies. NO EXCEPTIONS ARE ALLOWED. Payments received after May 10 must be made in cash or by money order. No checks will be accepted after May 10. These steps are being taken because of the large number of NSF checks that are received after May 10.
A 5% discount will be given to anyone paying tuition in full for the entire 2008-2009 school year by June 1, 2008.
Emergency Financial Assistance:
For the 2008-2009 school year $12,000.00 has been budgeted for financial assistance. To qualify for financial assistance parents must be registered, active, and supporting parishioners of St. Joan of Arc Church. The assistance is designed to help families in emergencies. It is not designed to be a long term arrangement. Applications for assistance along with personal financial documentations must be completed and received by April 15, 2008. The tuition assistance committee will appropriate the budgeted amount on a priority basis determined by the need of the applicants. Every request cannot be honored. Also, the full amount requested cannot always be honored. No one will receive the full amount of tuition in assistance.
May God bless you and your family!
