When New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond heard within a week three tragic stories about pornography’s impact on people in his archdiocese, he knew it was time to seek divine direction. Archbishop Aymond responded by assembling a team that developed a five-year pastoral plan to educate parents, educators and clergy about the threat pornography presents and to give them the tools to protect themselves and their families.
The first phase of the plan was to colaborate with leaders in the field of combatting pornography. Through that partnership, the archdiocese held a “Safe Haven Sunday," a weekend set aside to address the issue within the context of the liturgy, on the First Sunday of Lent between 2018 - 2020. Covenant Eyes has recognized the Archdiocese of New Orleans as a "Safe Haven Diocese" for their efforts to provide resources and teaching that supported individuals, marriages, and families, in making all homes a safe haven.
Now, through the guidance of the Marriage and Family Life Office, the resources of Clean Heart NOLA continue to grow and develop. Whether you are looking for tools to protect and educate yourself and your loved ones or for help to treat the many problems that stem from an addiction to pornography, we hope this is one of your first steps to cooperate with God to create a clean heart and renewed spirit.

Loving Father,
Thank you for the gift of marriage and family life. We entrust to you our home, where our marriage and family live and grow. We ask you to make it a safe haven for all who live and enter these walls. May our home be a holy place for both young and old to be formed in the truth regarding life, love, sex and marriage. May each of our members be protected from and guided in seeking to avoid pornography, while embracing the freedom and purity of life in Christ.
If there are past wounds that have occurred due to the availability of pornography on our family’s devices or lack of awareness, we ask you to send forth your Spirit to heal, bless, renew and consecrate this home as a safe haven with your son Jesus Christ at the center of our lives, today, tomorrow and always.
We ask this in union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth, Saints Joachim and Anne and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
