Head Start is a child and family development program for families with children from birth to 3 years (Early Head Start) and preschoolers 3 to 5 years of age (Head Start), including children with disabilities. These programs promote the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth and development of each child.
Head Start and Early Head Start serve low-income families that fall at or below the federal poverty level. These programs are free for qualifying children and families.

Nutrition services
For this benefit program, you must be a resident of Orleans Parish. Families with children ages birth to 5 years old (including children with disabilities) that fall within 0 – 100% of the Poverty Guidelines published by the Federal government are eligible for Head Start and Early Head Start services. Adoption Services of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans is a full-service, non-profit, child-placing program that seeks to link children of all ages to their forever families.
Our program is staffed by certified open-adoption practitioners experienced in maternity and adoption services who believe that every child deserves a safe, caring home. Homeless Services provide shelter and case management for individuals with chronic mental and physical health needs and families experiencing homelessness. Services include permanent supportive housing and sixteen independent apartments for intact, single-parent families. We provide case management, counseling, advocacy, referrals for additional services, therapeutic and educational groups. Additionally, we provide home-based case management, counseling, life skills training, budget planning, advocacy, linkages to mainstream resources, and referrals for additional services.
Bridges to Self-Sufficiency works with single-parent families. It assists families in finding transitional housing for three to six months until they can get back on their feet.Stopping Abuse through Victim Empowerment
Project SAVE assists survivors of domestic violence residing in Orleans Parish to obtain free emergency legal representation. Staff attorneys help with legal orders to keep survivors of domestic violence safe and to protect their legal rights. These legal services may include temporary restraining and protective orders, temporary child support, temporary custody, and temporary use of property.
